Orthodontia
Our Airway Dentistry & Orthodontia Clinic for children and adults is a specialized dental practice focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing airway-related issues that affect breathing, sleep, and overall oral health. This type of clinic goes beyond traditional dental care by addressing the connection between oral structures and the airway. Our clinic directly collaborates with our multidisciplinary, integrated team of sleep specialists.
-
Airway-Centered Dentistry:
Evaluates how the mouth, jaw, and throat impact breathing during the day and night.
Screens for sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), including snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Identifies oral and facial abnormalities that may restrict airflow, like a narrow palate, tongue tie, or collapsed airway.
-
We utilize specialized orthodontic techniques not just for straightening teeth but for expanding the dental arches and improving jaw alignment to open the airway.
Treatments include:
Palatal expanders — to widen the upper jaw and improve nasal airflow.
Myofunctional appliances — to retrain tongue and facial muscles, promoting proper oral posture.
Braces or clear aligners — for both aesthetic and functional alignment.
Early intervention in children guide jaw growth to prevent future airway issues.
-
Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB)
Snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS), and sleep apnea.
Mouth breathing
Often tied to jaw position, enlarged tonsils/adenoids, or a deviated nasal septum.
Tongue tie (Ankyloglossia)
Restricts tongue movement, impacting oral posture and airway health.
Jaw and facial growth disorders
Such as underdeveloped jaws (retrognathia) or narrow palates.
Bruxism (teeth grinding)
Sometimes linked to airway obstruction during sleep.

Home Sleep Test
Description: A home sleep test (HST) is a simple, portable diagnostic tool used to detect sleep apnea and other sleep-related breathing disorders. Unlike a Comprehensive Airway Assessments:
3D imaging (CBCT scans) to visualize airway size and obstructions.
Functional assessments of tongue position, mouth posture, and breathing patterns.
Myofunctional Therapy:
Exercises to strengthen oral and facial muscles.
Encourages proper tongue posture, nasal breathing, and lip seal — crucial for airway health.
Surgical Interventions:
Frenectomy (tongue-tie release) using laser technology.
-
Children
Early intervention can prevent lifelong breathing issues and encourage proper jaw growth.
Adults
Particularly those with undiagnosed sleep apnea, jaw pain (TMJ), or chronic mouth breathing.
Athletes
Improved airway function can enhance oxygen intake and athletic performance.
CPAP
Our CPAP Clinic routinely boosts the highest CPAP adherence rates in the nation with an average adherence rate of 82-85%, compared to a national average of 50-60%.
This clinic specializes in the management of sleep apnea, particularly through the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy. Our clinics are staffed by Registered Sleep Technologists and provide essential support for patients who have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, ensuring they receive the right equipment, education, and ongoing care.
-
The clinic helps you choose the right CPAP machine based on your prescription.
You’ll receive a sleep simulated mask fitting — options include nasal masks, full-face masks, or nasal pillow masks — to ensure comfort and an effective seal.
The technologist adjusts the air pressure settings to match your prescribed levels, ensuring optimal therapy.
-
You’ll learn how to use, clean, and maintain your CPAP equipment.
The technologist explains what to expect during the adjustment period, how to handle side effects (like a dry nose or mask leaks), and offer tips for better sleep.
-
All our CPAP machines now have remote monitoring features, so the clinic can track your usage, mask fit, and apnea events allowing us to proactively manage your treatment.
Follow-up appointments to assess your progress, adjust settings, and address any concerns.
-
If you have trouble adjusting to the machine, the clinic offers troubleshooting — changing masks, adjusting humidity settings, or providing comfort accessories.
-
Regular check-ins ensure your treatment remains effective.
The clinic will offer mask refits or machine upgrades over time
Sleep Testing
Home Sleep Test
A home sleep test (HST) is a simple, portable diagnostic tool used to detect sleep apnea and other sleep-related breathing disorders. Unlike a full polysomnography (PSG) conducted in a sleep lab, HSTs are done in the comfort of your own home, making them more convenient and less intrusive. HSTs are generally used for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) cases. If more complex sleep disorders are suspected, an in-lab sleep study might still be necessary.
In-Lab Sleep Test (Polysomnography)
Polysomnography (PSG) is a comprehensive sleep study used to diagnose sleep disorders by monitoring various body functions while you sleep. It’s performed overnight in our sleep lab, where trained technicians oversee the process.
